WALKING TRAILS, GARDENS AND HERITAGE ANIMALS
* Click here to view our trail guide *

Where ever I have lived I have built trails. Recreating a bit of home, to get in touch, I guess. Trails are every where back home. They are work in progress, some are years old and beautifully overgrown, while others are still raw wounds in the side of a steep bank.
I find it a challenge to fit them in our landscape, to open up even the most rugged corners of our property, so we can access them with relative ease. Then watch them being overtaken by nature again. All we use is a lawnmower to maintain a passage. They are a work in progress.
- Willem van den Hoek
That Dutchman's Farm consists of approximately 50 acres of farm fields, which spread southwards from our building site toward the bay, and over seventy acres of woodland running north.
A brook runs north south in a deeply cut ravine, bisecting the woodland section. This section consists of a great variety of landscapes, i.e. plateaus, steep hillsides, bogs, open meadows, hardwoods, softwoods, and a deep valley-bottom shaped by the meandering brook.
Over the last ten years we have built a network of walking trails that crisscross our "lands". The natural state is "spiked" (enhanced) with extra interesting features. (Do our online tour for a peek!)
